Johnny Rockets, Eastwood Mall
Johnny Rockets' here!
The famous California burger joint opened its first Asian franchise here in Quezon City a few years back. With the same diner-style decor and famous milkshake and burgers, Johnny Rockets brought about so much anticipation to Filipino burger-lovers.
I was able to dine at Johnny Rockets in California a couple of times. The one I frequented was in Long Beach, beside the movie house. My favorites: their Route 66 burger and strawberry milkshake with malt. I am also enthralled by the cutesie 50's diner style interior design, complete with diner booths and jukeboxes.
Everyone wanted to try Johnny Rockets despite reviews that this Manila franchise is way too expensive (Read: triple McDonalds' price). So yay!

(Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions & mayonnaise) plus...
...my strawberry milkshake with malt

I was not able to take pictures of each food ordered (Read: there's 15 of us) and we ordered different burgers so we can compare and taste all. Some of the kids had chicken tenders, mom ordered the grilled chicken club salad, sis-in-law had the philly cheese steak...so on...
Our food was served in batches but I must say within a reasonable time. The kids were given activity sheets to keep them busy while waiting for their food. It's worthy to note that they served the kids meals first (I think it's a must) before most adults.
Over-all, the food tasted okay. They said the burgers tasted a bit bland, just like your regular American burger. The servings were expectedly huge, fries were ordinary and milkshakes - sweet (just the way I like it). The kids loved their chicken tenders served with ketchup 'smiling'. I may be biased in a way that I loved JR even before it came to the Philippines but I must admit that those in the U.S. tasted better and that you may find Brother's or Wham burgers more delectable.
The crew were nice, courteous and served us with a smile. Despite the place being packed that day (Sunday lunch time) they made a point to make rounds on the tables to ask if everything's okay and if we needed something else. It's also a plus that they gave us complimentary servings of fries (I think they gave us 3) and that they were quick to refill our glasses with soda/iced tea/lemonade.
The place has the diner style design similar to those in the U.S. (though I prefer the ones in the U.S. more). You may choose to dine alfresco if you're a smoker. I was not able to check if there's a restroom inside - and if it's well-kept. Other than the bar, where diners can watch what's happening in the kitchen, the main showcase of the restaurant is the jukebox.
For the price, oh well...it's expensive. A meal with burger, fries and drink would more or less cost one person about P500. If you want to try something new and you're willing to spend a little more for a big serving of burger or yummy milk shake then by all means, Go! But if you are stingy, I think you'll be disappointed big time. Nevertheless, I think it won't hurt that much if you'll give it a try! =)
Something to watch out for: the dancing crew! I think they danced 3 times during our stay.
