REMEMBERING THIS DAY FOUR YEARS AGO

Image
Photo from this site It was this day on 2005 when I have decided to have my blood tested ( CBC and Blood Chemistry ) in preparation for a medical checkup before I resume school in June. From the usual one to four hours of wait for the results, I got mine about 3 days after. I remember the anxiety that we felt when the hospital staff refused to release the results without explaining why and what happened. I was eager to find out why that I have decided to go to another hospital for a repeat exam. I got my results an hour after but it revealed under and over-normal range results. It gave us an idea then, that it is probably why the other hospital I went to won't give me my results right away. We tried to find information about the results - scouring books and the internet. Though we had initial suspicions based on what we read and heard about, we have decided not to dwell on speculations. We may be wrong and misinformed after all. And so I waited for my doctor's appointment. I g...

The procedure was done last March 3 - which we fondly called Day 0. My first day as a new person, given a new lease at life. I've been in the hospital for almost a month. I was given a high-dose chemotherapy regimen to prepare me for the transplant. I owe my life to my stem cell donor, my eldest brother Fidel. A Letter for My Little Angel

Image
*Imported from my Old Blog* Dear W, I have always dreamed of having an angel like you. And when you came into my life, I knew God gave me a blessing I’d cherish my entire life. The whole nine months of carrying you in my womb and all the time until today are memories inscribed in my heart. You know, I had a lot of plans for you, for us. All the things I hope would be best for you. From giving warm comfortable clothes, to giving you milk when you’re hungry, to singing you lullabyes when you sleep. But then mommy’s being around always had to stop early because mommy got sick. I had to stay in the hospital for long periods of time. Mommy can’t carry you when mommy’s at home, and mommy can’t get near you always, because mommy just can’t. You know, mommy is just sick but mommy is already dying knowing time is uncertain and I can’t be taking care of you in those times we have or we have left. Now mommy is always praying that I get well again, so I can make up for the times I had to be away ...

Home from 2nd Cycle of Chemotherapy

Image
*Imported from my old blog* I would like to sincerely thank everybody who expressed their sympathy, sent inspiring messages through text, friendster and email…To all who have donated blood and those who have at least tried to…To everybody who visited me at the hospital…To all who have comforted and supported my family…and To everybody who have included me in their prayers...You’ve all made the load lighter and helped me be strong… I am done with my Re-induction chemotherapy just last Monday, my second cycle treatment after only being in partial remission with the first. We are hoping that my system would respond to this one now, and start clearing up the leukemia cells in my body. The doctor allowed me to go home for a while, to rest and be with my baby. I’ll be back in the hospital though, for further treatment and bone marrow transplantation. I hope all will be well in the end… Maraming maraming salamat and may God bless you all and your families… You just dunno how much it me...
