The University of the Philippines College of Law released the official results of the UP Law Aptitude Examination list of passers for the school year 2016-2017. The University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Fund, Inc. (UPMAF) will hold a concert called “Ang SOAP Opera ng Buhay Ko” (The Concert: Voices of Healing) at the new Marriott Grand Ballroom on August 26, 2015 to riase funds towards the creation of the New UP College of Medicine Academic Center,  a 7-story multi-million peso undertaking. The dinner concert will feature several of the biggest names in the international and local concert scene, including the 50-piece ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Gerard Salonga, this special night will bring together Lea Salonga, Ryan Cayabyab, Jed Madela, Vice Ganda, Mark Bautista, Cris Villonco, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Bituin Escalante, Pinky Marquez, Franco Laurel, The Tux, Caisa Borromeo, Baihana, Catherine Fisher, among others, as they join the community in a collective voice of healing. The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) is now accepting applications for incoming secondary school students who are gifted in the arts.  Located at the National Arts Center in Mt. Makiling, Los Banos, Laguna, the PHSA develops artistically gifted children into future leaders and movers in the Philippine Art scene, caring for the "conservation and promotion of the Filipino artistic traditions." Quoting the National Commission for the Culture and Arts, here are further details on the scholarship application: "PRIVILEGES The successful applicant is awarded free tuition fee, board and lodging, classes with master teachers, a monthly stipend, plus the chance to represent the country and the school in international festivals, competitions and exchange programs. The grant is renewable every year for four consecutive school years upon satisfaction of academic and non-academic requirements.

We were on vacation in the US during the height of this year's American Idol season. During the finale, we were texting like crazy voting for Jessica Sanchez. Haha! It is only this year again, that I watched the whole season since the battle between the two Davids, (David Cook and David Archuleta) which was back in 2008. When I did the grocery shopping last weekend, I bought a pack of MoskiShield (a mosquito repellent patch) and a bug spray from Human Nature. I have lots of red patches on different parts of my body, which I suspect are bug and mosquito bites from I-don't-know where I got. :-(    I am worried that due to the prolonged flooding, mosquitoes are given perfect places to multiply. And with mosquitoes abound, cases of dengue, malaria and other diseases will rise. So other than the topical mosquito repellents I bought, we also cleaned the parts of the house which may  potentially  breed these insects. ---000--- The Department of Health are asking everyone to keep safe from other common diseases that may be acquired due to flooding  (like  Leptospirosis ) .
