Usual household chores like washing the dishes, sweeping and mopping the floor, and hand-washing clothes leave my hands in pain. I broke a couple of glassware already because my hands suddenly get numb, my fingers get stiff, and there's a splitting pain somewhere around the wrists. Because of my medical history, I've decided to see my orthopedic surgeon to have it checked. Based on my symptoms, (which my doctor explained is fairly common) he believes I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome . He asked me to undergo several tests to confirm (as it may also be arthritis) and check the extent of the swelling. I already had my wrist x-ray done. Next tests are: EMG (electromyography) and NCV (nerve conduction velocity) -- which I am praying, would give a result that would not require me to undergo surgery or steroid injections anymore. :-( In the meantime, the doctor gave me some pain relievers and medicine to reduce the swelling. In my recent post , I told you about the repairs we had at home and how I went about cleaning the dust, dirt and extra stuff we still have not managed to sort since we moved late last year. It was great timing also that we were able to have leaks and cracks sealed by the workers while they were here. We moved last November and inspite of the occasional rains we've been getting, we still haven't noticed leaks and cracks from the roof and firewall until recently (with Chedeng). I am so paranoid that I wanted our house sealed, safe and sound to protect us from any future natural calamities. It is just a few weeks left before school starts again. When W and I went to the mall to shop for some of his school supplies, National Bookstore was already packed. I know most parents are now preparing the budget and saving dates when to shop for supplies. Make a List It is great that the school gave us the list of the things to bring early (and it's a long list to begin with). By reviewing the list, I was able to determine which ones we need to buy and which ones we still have. I did an inventory of W's school things when classes ended last March so I now I can just compare my inventory list with this new list. This summer, I've allowed my son to use the laptop - mostly playing Gamehouse PC games or playing Restaurant City in Facebook . Though he's usually allowed year-round (during weekends when there's school) I'm giving him roughly an hour and a half to do what he wants given that I know what he's doing and no YouTube without my permission.   Recently, I've noticed him frequently singing, asking me to play songs I have stored in my mobile phone or in my iPod or in the laptop's iTunes. Nope, not nursery rhymes dear friends! He's singing in tune of R&B and Pop songs! Saan ka pa? haha! Anyway, I taught him to make his own iTunes playlist just so he won't mess with mine. I've seen him having trouble searching and searching each time he wants a specific song to be played so I thought why not give him ownership to a playlist with all the songs he like? As a child, my mom (a very prayerful person) taught us about asking help from saints' in times of need. She told me (us) that when you call them and pray their novena, they'll be your bridge to God. Our mom gave us prayer cards with novenas to St. Jude, St. Expeditus, St. Clare and a lot more.  When we took our entrance exams and board exams, she told us to go offer eggs to the monastery of St. Clare. She also reminded us to buy our #2 Mongol pencils ahead of time and have them blessed there. --- All of these we obediently followed. I may not be as prayerful as my mom, but the things I mentioned above were definitely imprinted on my mind. After all, we (me & my siblings) all passed our exams after doing those. =) My sister even offered eggs last year for good weather when we organized our biennial family reunion (which was a success by the way).
